Dear Emotions Study Group Members,
We hope that you're all keeping safe and well at this difficult and very weird time! Thanks to a lot of hard work and dedication by our wonderful presenters, the BSA Emotions Study Group's 2020 Symposium, Emotions Across Time & Space, will be going forward as a Twitter-based event. We have some fascinating and truly significant work included in the symposium this year, and we're delighted to be able to facilitate connections between emotions scholars during a time when we would otherwise be largely cut off from one another. We are grateful to have the participation of both of our plenary presenters - an ECR plenary from Dr Nadena Doharty and a closing plenary from Dr Rebecca Olson - still included in the programme, alongside a rich range of insightful work from across the social sciences of emotion.
The full programme with abstracts and the abbreviated programme-at-a-glance are now available to be viewed on the study group's website. You can find them here: https://bsaemotions.wordpress.com/2020symposium/.
The paper presentations can be viewed 'live' as they unfold as threaded Tweets on Twitter on the event date of the 27th April, but if you're unable to 'attend', interested colleagues are warmly encouraged to join the conversations that unfold there at a later time. If you're interested in conversing with presenters about their work but do not use Twitter, copies of all presentations will be posted on the study group's website soon after the event, along with contact details where you can reach presenters to share your questions and comments. Our fondest hope as convenors of the study group is that future research and teaching collaborations will emerge from the conversations that arise around the presenters' work, so please do seize the open invitation to contact them during or after the symposium.
Please share the event details widely amongst any potentially interested colleagues, and we look forward to 'seeing you' at the symposium!
Best wishes,
Lisa Kalayji, Fiona McQueen, and Lisa Smyth
