Really interesting question Jean as our HR Department are looking at it as some of our invigilators have challenged it. I think the problem being, we fall into a 'gap'. As public sector employees one could argue we're not covered under the scheme, however, there are certain measures for those on zero-hours contracts (which our invigilators are effectively claiming). Our solicitors are looking into it so I've no answer to help with I'm afraid just yet. There's also the consideration of moral duty and whether we make a compensation payment. There's no guidance yet so I'm awaiting legal advice.
By the way, I wanted to say goodbye to my ARC colleagues as I'm leaving at the end of this month. What a time to go after 17.5 years' service! I've really appreciated this forum and the way everyone rallies around - it's been such a fantastic group to belong to so good luck everyone with the next few months (years?!) until this sorts itself out.
Kind regards
Anne

Subject: Invigilators and the furlough scheme
Dear all
I hope you are all doing ok during this weird and challenging time. I have a very quick question:
- Are any of you using the Government's furlough scheme to pay your invigilators?
Thank you, Jean
