Joseph, Mike and colleagues
Mention of BFI reminds me that they hold the Peter Worden Collection of
Films, more commonly known as Mitchell & Kenyon Collection of social and
actuality studies of Edwardian British life. See Venessa Toumin, Simon
Popple & Patrick Russell (Eds), 'The Lost oWorld of Mitchell & Kenyon:
Edwardian Britain on Film', BFI Publications, 2004. Chapters evidencing
the transport/travel content of the collection include 6 (Vanessa
Toulmin: Travelling Exhibition Showmen), 17 (Ian Yearsley: On the move
in the streets: transport films in the M&K collection) and 18 (Patrick
Keiller: Tram rides and other virtual landscapes).
I have been in touch with Philip Kirk and understand the Bus Archive is
aware of this consultation and will be contributing.
Thank you Mike for starting a most interesting and potentially valuable
ball rolling.
With best wishes.
