Hi from Aotearoa New Zealand,
I am very keen to find what other places are doing about primary birthing units (midwifery led units) as we have many of these in rural areas. There was some talk in my local area of concentrating staff into main hospitals but that has not happened. Demand for homebirth is rising and definetly encouraged for those that want it/are ‘suitable’
I am interested in the information from the Dutch Organization of Midwives (below) about setting up birth centres is there any links to information about this? It seems sensible (and there is plenty of evidence) for keeping well women away from secondary/tertiary hospitals if possible.
Take care all
Ngā mihi
