Archivist
Salary SO2 £31,548 - £33,291 Per Annum
It is an exciting time for Newham, as an Area of Focus for National Lottery Heritage Fund and the first month long National Heritage Month. Newham is a borough of real opportunity to build your career.
Our aim is to build Newham’s Heritage Service, to support a wide range of local people engaging with their heritage. We want to work closely with and empower the borough’s heritage sector to celebrate Newham’s rich heritage.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Archivist who is looking for a challenging but rewarding project to work in a borough with a rich heritage. You will be instrumental in ensuring Heritage is integrated into the borough’s cultural strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for organising, documenting, conserving, developing and promoting access to the archives and local history collections and resources held at the Archives and Local Studies Library relating to the history of Newham and its diverse communities.
We are looking for an articulate and innovative individual, with a passion for public engagement with heritage.
Along with a recognised qualification and experience in archives or records management, the successful candidate will also have good knowledge of developments and best practice in preservation and access, and some knowledge of museum collections practice.
