I am afraid that you cannot correct for susceptibility induced distortions (the “typical” EPI distortions), but you can still correct for EC distortions, subject movement etc. There is one caveat, and that is that if you acquired a T2 weighted image along with your diffusion data you might be able to use that.
It will mean that your end results, be it FA maps, tractography etc, will be in a distorted space relative to the structural scans. It might also mean that if your distortions are very severe your tractography may veer off course. It is always preferable to be able to correct for the distortions, but I suspect that historically a majority of DTI studies did _not_ do that, and they were still able to get useful and important results.
