The Isle of Man Public Record Office is embarking on an exciting and challenging project to develop our digital preservation and access capability. We are looking for an Archivist with significant experience in the preservation of born-digital records to join our project team for a two year period from Spring 2020.
About the Role:
You’ll work as part of a small professional team on our digital preservation project. You will use your specialist knowledge and technical skills to:
• Scope and survey digital records across Isle of Man public bodies to determine digital preservation processes, system and storage requirements
• Research and develop a specification for the Public Record Office’s digital preservation repository
• Engage and work closely with key project stakeholders, including the Project Board, representatives from Isle of Man public bodies and officers from the Isle of Man’s Government Technology Services
• Work with the project team and the Attorney General’s Chambers to develop pre-tender documentation
• Participate in market appraisal and procurement of a digital preservation system
• Develop and implement policies, standards, procedures, systems, tools and workflows to appraise, ingest, preserve and provide access to born-digital and digitised archives
• Manage digital records
Your role sits within the wider Isle of Man Public Record Office team, so you'll also have the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day running and strategic development of the Public Record Office.
You'll also get the chance to develop and deliver staff training and awareness of digital preservation systems and processes.

The Isle of Man Public Record Office is the official historic archive for Isle of Man Government and public bodies.
We select and preserve records of Isle of Man public bodies which are of historic significance and make these records available to the public for research. Located at Unit 40A Spring Valley, we offer public reading room and enquiry services, exhibitions, group visits and have a lively social media presence.
You'll be part of a friendly and supportive team within the Record Office and within the wider Central Registry division of the Department for Enterprise.
