This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate/post-graduate statistician to join, develop and thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment and provide statistical input into the design, conduct and analysis of trials. You will be required to work independently in conducting the design and analysis of clinical trials in accordance with the Unit's standard operating procedures and Good Clinical Practice guidelines; prepare reports for the Data Monitoring Committees and attend their meetings to present the interim results; develop and conduct other trial-related projects, such as methodological research, secondary analyses of existing datasets and systematic reviews in collaboration with other CTU staff.
You will join an active statistics group within Warwick CTU and will provide statistical support on the design of large multi-centre randomised controlled trials, conduct analyses of datasets from the trials and contribute to the final reports. Current areas of research include cancer, emergency and critical care, mental health, musculoskeletal disorders and pain, rehabilitation, trauma and Orthopaedics.
You will have a BSc in Statistics/Mathematics with a substantial content of statistics (Class I) or a MSc in Medical Statistics/Statistics. You will have the ability to write scientific reports and to manage and analyse large data sets. You will have excellent planning and organisation skills, including the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines. You will be IT literate, self-motivated with excellent communication skills and have the ability to work well individually as well as in a team.
This will be a varied role involving collaboration with many other researchers both within the CTU and externally. The exact projects to be undertaken will be determined by discussion with the successful applicant.

Job Description
Job purpose
The purpose of this post is: to provide statistical support, in collaboration with senior statisticians and trialists, for the design, conduct and analysis of trials. To generate reports of interim and final analyses of trials, ensuring analysis, reporting and archiving is in accordance with the unit's standard operating procedures and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Preparation of reports to Data Monitoring Committees and attendance at their meetings to present the interim results. To develop and conduct other trial-related projects, such as methodological research, secondary analyses of existing datasets, and systematic reviews, in collaboration with other CTU staff.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Work closely with a Senior Statistician, to provide statistical input to design and conduct of studies.
2. Conduct of interim analyses, writing reports for Data Monitoring and Ethics Committee.
3. Design and conduct exploratory analyses of data sets from completed randomised controlled trials and other studies.
4. Conduct of final analyses, archiving of data and analyses.
5. To input into designing and conducting projects related to trials, such as secondary analyses of existing data sets, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
6. Ensure that projects are written up and disseminated appropriately, including peer-reviewed publication.
7. Attend project meetings, Data Monitoring and Ethics Committee meetings and Trial Steering Group meetings.
8. Attend national and international conferences and meetings to disseminate results, as appropriate.
9. Establish good working relationships with collaborators both within and outside the Warwick Medical School.
10. Ensure that projects are adequately documented and archived.
