Hope everybody is well.

The National Library of Wales closed to the public earlier in the week, and to staff at 5pm last night. It's still possible to go in to pick things up etc., but we're encouraged to stay away.

I have moved what I can into the cloud, and the rest onto external drives. The focus for us is to make sure online resources stay up, and ensure our social media presence remains current and regular. I'm going to focus on reviewing/developing documentation and creating new video content - mostly by repurposing existing stuff, but perhaps also making new content from digitised resources, creating video guides to online services etc.

The rest of the team will be doing some data processing work and some QA/ image processing tasks. We only a have a few weeks work to start with so, we're going to work slowly on it.

If this goes on for months, I'm hoping to set up more robust remote access so we can process backlogs and continue making new material available online.

It's going to be interesting to see how all of this impacts our strategies going forward. I can see even more focus on providing services online.

Stay safe everybody. It would be good if we could keep in contact and support each other.

Scott

National Library of Wales.

I am also looking at setting up a community-type Linked-In or a Facebook group (closed or semi-closed) as it might be more appropriate and easy to use for sharing images, videos etc. Please comment if you think this is a good idea and which platform you are more likely to use (on mobile/ work laptop/ home computer etc.)

In fact there are engineers working from home while having full access and control over hardware that sits on their office desks. In addition we have various open channels for continuous communication between team members.
