Hi Katherine
I can see where you are coming from and time is not on our side. I have a wide managerial role in blood sciences so POCT is only one area I am supporting at present. I am not convinced that PHE and NHS England will tell us which kits to use, but I could be wrong. I suppose they will suggest some products which they have evaluated and maybe guidance on what they deem acceptable sensitivity and specificity for any other kit under consideration. But this is the first time I've encountered a situation like this. We would normally conduct a pre-evaluation selection based on stated performance characteristics, then only evaluate a small number of different kits. We obviously can't so this in this particular situation.
I have added some additional kits to the list provided by Katy. Please see attached, but early days in completing all the columns due to lack of information in my possession. I have forwarded the list to our microbiology leads with a view to chopping the list down to potentials. If that aligns with recommendations from PHE/NHSE then we could move quickly on procuring, and verifying the chosen kit.

Will we not get recommendations for suitable tests from PHE/NHS England?
I am anxious not to waste energy at this point. Who knows what will actually be available to us.
We are starting to make plans to bolster the struggling community phlebotomy service and hoping the now vacant Out-patient areas will allow us to provide assurance for social distancing and possibly create a service for the more at-risk patients in dedicated areas and at quieter times. Will probably be seeking out retirees with phlebo skills.
I'd be grateful for any insights. Interestingly - it is only in this context that I have heard the words locum agency (?)
Its not difficult to envision ramping these up to deliver serology via POCT in this setting with direct booking into LIMS and transmission of result.
The ability to implement change at pace is a novel feeling........could get used to NOT filling in outline business cases, draft business cases , full business cases, DPIA, etc etc
Anyone feel inspired enough to email NHSi and suggest that they cease demanding PQAD/model hospital data? (already have....)
Regards to everyone out there

Dear Mailbase,
I phoned a friend... Kerry Whiting, previous Consultant Biochemist and POCT Speciality lead has put this together for me.
Spreadsheet of antibody tests... rapidly changing field. This is our opinion - manufacturers can argue or submit corrections.
But it is a start.
Welcome all other suggestions.

Subject: POCT COVID-19 testing kits
Hi All
I am interested in how POCT can support the effort to test patients, staff and the public for COVID-19 infection. I am looking to collate information as follows:
- Supplier
- Test methodology
- Sample type
- Sensitivity and Specificity
- Review of validation data
- When to test to avoid false negatives
- Duration of test
- Lead time
- Automated reader compatibility
For starters anyway, so that an infromed choice on whether to adopt any POCT solution can be made.
I have been picking up information from multiple sources. It would be good if we could share and collate this. If any suppliers are on this mailbase please share.
Regards
Tony Cambridge
