*The Persistent Past in Italian Literature, 1200-1600
This panel examines the persistence of ancient cultural influences in the literature of medieval Italy, and/or medieval cultural influences in Renaissance literature, thereby problematizing periodization narratives that posit cultural ruptures separating these periods.
*Travels, migrations, and Italian Literature, 1200-1600
This panel examines how Italian literature between 1200 and 1600 has been shaped by travel. Papers may deal with topics including transnational exchange (material or cultural), migration, travel writing, cartography, ecology, the Mediterranean Sea, etc.
