Performance lecture by Jon McKenzie and Bernard Stiegler: "S/CARE
Packages: Design, Thinking, and the Generations in the Age of the
Anthropocene”, opening on the issue of the role of design in the
contemporary world crises of care. The event, moderated by David Zerbib,
is part of “L’Atelier de rencontres”.
Abstract: Across the projection screens of S/CARE PACKAGES there roam
diverse figures, including activist Greta Thunberg and the goddess
Artemis, revealed as physis or Nature and trailed by an Actaeon Complex
of philosophers, scientists, and theorists. In the Age of the
Anthropocene, crises of care extend across the dimensions of self,
community, and world, three ecologies described decades ago by Felix
Guattari. The figures challenge and call us out to see the truth, to
take action starting with ourselves, to respond to others around us, and
to engage the radical alterity of materiality itself. S/CARE PACKAGES is
a lecture performance that acts, responds, and engages with both history
and ontology, memories and speculations that capture us with concerns
and anxieties over how best to care for our selves, our societies, and
our environment. What is the role of design, thinking, and the
generations in the Age of the Anthropocene? Interweaving activism, art
and design, philosophy, science, history, myth, memoir, and fiction,
S/CARE PACKAGES stages collective thought-action that provokes critical
attention and creative response-ability
