Thank you Sandie. It's comforting to hear that the members of the group are healthy and managing despite the circumstances. Sharing our thoughts and concern for others helps us to stay connected and gives us hope for the future.

    Stay safe and healthy!

    Best wishes,

    Thank you Sandie!

These are indeed difficult times but hopefully we will be able to look back on how we engaged as individuals (and maybe as institutions) and feel proud of how we supported each other, our students and our colleagues.

Here in the UK the situation is rapidly deteriorating, but in some respects this was expected - we knew it was going to get far worse before it would get better (particularly with our current Prime Minister at the helm!). What will get us through is the kindness and compassion we show to each other, so thank you Sandie for spearheading this on this list!

    Best wishes to you all,

Thanks for your lovely message Sandie.

I think we're all learning so much at the moment and putting our priorities well and truly in place. We had a faculty meeting via videoconferencing yesterday. Apart from sharing teaching/research concerns and strategies, we were so happy to see each other's faces (most of us never see each other anyway as happens in many universities!!) and talked to each other with a level of care and concern which I hope we'll manage to hold onto in the future.

As for a comment made earlier by Martina, I'm also thinking a lot about children in different circumstances at this moment in time. It's the worst possible scenario for anyone (children and adults) in vulnerable situations. It's good to see initiatives springing up in response (like homeless people being found shelter, which makes you wonder why we couldn't do that before), but it's also very worrying when we think about those who are cut off from services/support right now.

So, as you say Sandie, let's stay connected (locally and globally) and do what we can to turn the situation round for everyone.

A big virtual hug to you all,

        Julie

PS. At the moment the situation in Catalonia is getting worse every day, as it is in other regions of Spain (Italy seems to be turning the curve??). Attempts to isolate affected areas are undermined by centralist policies (Madrid) ignoring examples from places that have got this under control by taking lockdown seriously. I hope some politicians will sit before human rights courts at some point in the future for their ineptitude/gross negligence in all this.

Thanks very much for your message. The situation is terrible both in
