Dear Zooarch Community,
Out of curiosity, has anyone here ever string-sawed a bone before? This would be the practice of using some type of cord or string and sliding it back and forth in such a way to cut through the bone (or shell, or sometimes stone). If anyone has, do you have any recommendations on what works best/what to avoid? There isn't a lot written about it. The only references I can find are mainly in prehispanic Central America and a couple in North America, although I wonder if it may have been more common than is recognized.
Many thanks in advance,
Ashley
