We have extensive experience of BluBar Beacons. We wouldn't use them again!

Subject: BLE Beacon experience - good or bad?
Hi
Does anyone have any concrete field experience of BLE Beacons to share?
I increasingly have customers that propose to use BLE Beacons with our Info-Point units ( https://www.info-point.eu ), though none have yet followed through - QR codes and NFC tags seem at present to be a more effective solution once you look in detail at the practicalities.
I have heard anecdotal evidence that Beacons do not work as well as their promise, and some horror stories of pre-BLE Bluetooth Beacons becoming yesterday's tech and subsequently WEEE.
I'm broadly interested in any 'proven in practice' location-triggered experience, although I'm specifically interested in 'Eddystone type'
BLE Beacons as they can generate a URL which will work natively with Info-Point.
Regards
