We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Engineering Technician based at our Enable Ireland, SeatTech Custom Posture and Mobility Service, Sandymount, Dublin 4. The Role:

The purpose of the post is to provide technical expertise, founded on sound engineering principles, and informed by a rich understanding of clinical need, in order to contribute to the delivery of suitable wheelchair seating solutions to people with complex needs.



The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician works directly with service users and with experienced clinical staff in the delivery of the special seating service. The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician uses their clinical knowledge and understanding to partner with a clinician in the delivery of custom seating assessment, fitting and equipment-handover, all of which form part of the service intervention offered by SeatTech. While some duties may be shared, the clinician ultimately carries responsibility for the clinical integrity of the seating solution while the Senior Clinical Engineering Technician carries responsibility for the manufacture and technical integrity of same.



The key priority for every member of the team is to deliver the best custom seating solution to meet each individual service user’s needs. The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician works in a proactive manner to ensure that his/her productivity matches agreed targets, so that agreed deadlines are met and high-quality SeatTech products are delivered.



This is an exciting time to join the service, as we work to introduce digital manufacturing processes (CAM/3D Printing) in the production of our custom seating solutions.

-Health & Safety

-Research & Design

-Repairs & Emergency Cover

-Other Duties as required





Essential Criteria

-Apprenticeship of Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification to minimum NFQ Level 6 (In order to qualify for interview, official, written evidence of this must accompany the application).

-Eligibility to be registered as an ‘Engineering Technician’ with Engineers Ireland

-Mechanical engineering workshop training and experience, e.g. use of workshop machine tools, welding equipment etc.

-Minimum of 2 years’ experience of carrying responsibility for the undertaking, jointly with clinicians, of clinical assessments and risk-assessments with a view to prescribing medical devices.





Desirable Criteria:

-Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification to NFQ Level 7

-Training in anatomy and physiology

-Strong knowledge of the biomechanics involved in the seated position and mechanisms behind pressure-related injuries

-Experience in the design or development of CAD/CAM techniques

-Familiarity with terminology to accurately describe seating positions e.g. ISO-16840-1



Salary:

-The current salary scale for this post is €40,828 - €58,633 pro-rata per annum.
