The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) has a vacancy for an experienced information professional or archivist to join its Knowledge and Information Services (K&IS) team. The IISS is a leading authority on international conflict and geopolitical trends, providing objective facts and independent analysis. Summits convened by the IISS facilitate intergovernmental consultations, while its research helps companies to understand political risk and its publications shape the international strategic debate. The K&IS team delivers knowledge and information services throughout the institute, including responsibility for the IISS corporate archive. For a candidate with relevant experience there is an opportunity to complete the setting up of the archive and take the lead on future archive and records management initiatives.
The successful candidate should have:
• A degree or postgraduate qualification in either Librarianship/Information Science or Archives/Records Management.
• Significant experience of working in an information service or archive, including the provision of research assistance.
• Core technical collection management skills - cataloguing, indexing and stock selection.
• The ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload to meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and good written and oral communication skills.
• Strong client focus, customer-service ethos and dedication to service delivery.
• Strong team working values.
• A flexible, adaptive and responsive outlook in relation to duties and working hours.
