London, Canary Wharf
Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.
This role will see you join Ofgem’s “Modernise Energy Data” programme, delivered in collaboration with BEIS and Innovate UK. This presents the opportunity to work across Ofgem’s entire portfolio of regulatory rules and all parts of the energy market. The programme is designed to ensure that energy companies make the very best use of data through regulating the energy market to protect consumers best interests, and to achieve some of our most important strategic ambitions, such as net zero carbon emissions. Your work will contribute to both “soft” regulation (designed to influence behaviours and expectations) and “hard” regulation (more direct and enforceable rules for licences, codes and guidance). You’ll help to develop and deliver regulatory licence / code clauses and advise colleagues on how data and digital can be incorporated into regulatory rules.
It’s a role where highly developed stakeholder management engagement and negotiating skills are vital. You’ll also need to be able to translate strategic concepts into practical action on the ground. Knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain that makes up the GB energy market and how modern technologies can impact on energy services are both important, and you should also have experience of designing and delivering regulatory licences, codes, or equivalent.
