Dear All,
Has anyone got any experience with implementing POCT devices into Prisons? If so, what devices/tests have you implemented? We have been contacted by our local prison service regarding potentially implementing/giving advice regarding POCT testing in their clinics to reduce A&E visits by prisoners and to reduce the length of time the prisoner spends outside of prison to come to hospital.
Initial discussions have been around the potential use of CRP for infections (chest infection and cellulitis are common), a Troponin test for chest pain, and maybe a device that would test for Paracetamol for suspected overdose with liver function testing capability. Is anyone using such devices? As of yet I haven't come across any POCT kits that will test for Paracetamol in whole blood?
Thank you,
Nicola Davey
