Hi all
We have taken the same approach not to use any POC device for suspected Wuhan/Coronavirus patients. The main laboratory is conducting all urgent testing under full PPE
For reference I did ask for an official response from all of my manufactures on handling samples. The main concern seems to be with disposal of used cartridges/strips ect used for a suspected patient testing as they have to be classed as Cat A waste and disposed of differently. We were also advised by our flu analyser manufacture Cepheid that the chamber needs to be decontaminated with 1 in 10 bleach and 70% alcohol after every suspected test. As I can't cover this overnight we took the blanket decision not to perform any POC.
Thanks
Dave
