Just to clarify, pharmacy do not perform the lot acceptance testing, that is done by the POCT team, but pharmacy inform us when a new lot number is delivered (not one in their stock records), record on documentation we have provided, then POCT take a box of the new lot and IQC it for first use. Record in QMS as evidence of lot acceptance.

Hi Mary
Our pharmacy distribute the same range of products with no issues. Some other products are ordered directly from our electronic ordering system by the site themselves. We access ordering profiles from pharmacy and the ordering system to monitor activity. We also have blocks on certain products if wards that have not been approved to use a test order the consumables.
Pharmacy are also involved in our lot acceptance procedures for test strip lot changes. Any reason why your pharmacy now wish to pass these activities back? Resources I guess?

Dear All,
We have been asked by Pharmacy if POCT could find another means of distributing POCT strips and cassettes. Currently Pharmacy distribute the glucose and ketone strips, urine testing strips and pregnancy testing strips. How do other Trusts manage this without impacting on patient care? We have limited manpower in the POCT department and so could not take the task on ourselves.

Mary
