The Hallam Big Read
We’re running our very first ‘Big Read’! The purpose of the Big Read is to welcome new students to Hallam by giving them a copy of our fantastic chosen book My name is Leon by Kit de Waal which we hope will help to create a sense of community among new students and help to address some of the themes that students may face when settling in to university. There will be lots of information available on MyHallam about the Big Read before induction week.

**Apologies for cross-posting**
We are delighted to invite you to the 3rd annual SHU Library and Skills Centre Teachmeet, here at Sheffield Hallam University on Tuesday 5th May 2020.
At this free event we will share our ideas, experience and innovative practice. The event is aimed at higher education library staff and academic study skills practitioners working in this region.
We are pleased to announce that the event will be opened and introduced by Nick Woolley, Director of Library Services at Sheffield Hallam University.
Our theme this year is:
The student voice: how do we actively involve our students in the development, delivery and evaluation of our services.
Once again we are looking for 5 presenters (up to 15 minutes) to share their practice and experience with colleagues. Topics could include:
Partnership projects with student unions Student & staff committees or working groups UX including research projects Co-production, design and delivery Innovative student employment or internships Inverted learning
If you are interested in presenting at the Teachmeet please book a ticket and email Karen Dolman on [log in to unmask] with a title and brief overview of your presentation by Friday 20 March 2020.
Tea and coffee will be provided at the start of the day at 9.30am, before a prompt 10am start.
Please bring along a packed lunch to enjoy over lunchtime - or we will point you in the direction of places to get a lovely lunch!
We highly recommend that you book your place early as this event has always proved very popular and numbers are strictly limited. Please try and co-ordinate bookings with colleagues to ensure that we are able to have a broad representation of different institutions.
We will be live tweeting the event this year using #SHUTeachmeet and we will once again produce a SHU Library and Skills Centre Teachmeet web site.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 5th May 2020!
