Maybe we do not know all the facts. Maybe this is abut remote rural midwifery when the decision then is about using a helicopter vs an ambulance transfer. Though in my experience I have made that decision many times without needing reassurance about fetal well-being concerns. Yu are right, Gillian, midwives need to make autonomous decisions, certainly easier in New Zealand, where they are recognised legally as autonomous practitioners.
