Post-doctoral fellowship position in Neuroimaging and Inherited Cerebellar Ataxias – Machine Learning
Department of Neurology
University of Campinas
A postdoctoral position with FAPESP scholarship is available to work on a research project within the scope of BRAINN, the Brazilian Institute of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology - a Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (CEPID) supported by FAPESP and based at the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Campinas (FCM-Unicamp). Conducted at the Department of Neurology of FCM-Unicamp under the coordination of Prof. Marcondes França, the project aims to implement a novel MRI protocol and to create a post-processing methodology (involving artificial intelligence) that allows the evaluation of the morphology of the cerebellum and its deep nuclei using structural brain MRI. The results obtained will make it possible to understand the pathophysiology of diseases of the human cerebellum and will help to identify useful biomarkers for therapeutic clinical trials for these diseases.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Ph.D./MD with research experience in the topics relevant to the project
- Strong neuroimaging background (structural MRI)
- Strong Matlab programming skills
- Experience in programming Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)
- Familiarity with neuroimaging toolboxes (FreeSurfer, SCT, MRIClound, etc.)
- A solid basis of Statistics
- Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms
- Signal and image processing expertise
- Outstanding publication records
- Excellent communication skills
- Research independence
- Collaborative personality to work in groups with researchers and students
Expertise in cerebellar ataxias is a plus.
This position is expected to start in April 2020. We are located in Campinas, a vibrant city close to São Paulo, and the grant may cover part of the expenses for moving to Campinas/Brazil.
