External Examiner for Exercise & Health, Strength & Conditioning, and Sports & Exercise Therapy in the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing, University of Wolverhampton
The Department of Sport at the University of Wolverhampton requires an External Examiner to cover three related courses due to a recent Review and Revalidation of the sport curriculum offer. The External Examiner will be expected to monitor the quality of the coursework across all three courses for the first two years of the contract, and just one course from that point onwards. There will be a Level 4 cohort of a newly validated course, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy, commencing in 2020/21. There will also be level 5 and/or 6 cohorts on two outgoing courses, BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning and BSc (Hons) Exercise and Health in 2020/21 and 2021/22.
The External Examiner will be expected to undertake the role of Module External and monitor the quality of the coursework across the Courses below:
• BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning (for 2020/21 and 2021/22 only)
• BSc (Hons) Exercise and Health (for 2020/21 and 2021/22 only)
• BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy (from 2020/21 onwards)
The External Examiner will also be expected to undertake the role of Award External for the undergraduate sport curriculum. The role of the Award External is to ensure that due process has been followed by the sport Award/Progression Board in arriving at its decisions.
We are seeking candidates whose areas of expertise would enable them to monitor the quality of these courses and externally moderate assessed work. External Examiners are required to attend at least one Module Assessment Board and one Award Assessment Board a year and complete an annual report. External Examiners are also required to provide comments on proposed modifications and the development of new modules within their area of expertise.
The post is for an initial period of 4 years, starting in 2020 – 2024
