In 2019 we saw a major change in the engagement of young people in climate change. What are the implications of this for how we teach geography undergraduates? What innovative practices are being adopted in teaching climate change to geography students? What are employers and professional bodies expectations of climate change education from geography undergraduate degrees? These important and timely questions are addressed in this brief survey, to be published in the Journal of Geography in Higher Education (JGHE). It will form part of a special issue about teaching ‘wicked problems’ in geography.
This survey is aimed at programme leaders and tutors of undergraduate geography programmes in the UK and Ireland. It takes about 15 minutes to complete. All of the information you provide will be treated confidentially. We are happy to share the results with you in the published paper. There will be a selected number of good practice case studies featured, but before naming you or your programme we would contact you first to make sure you are happy with how the case study is presented in the article.
This research is being conducted by Dr Alina Congreve. Dr Congreve is an independent researcher who has worked as a lecturer and principal lecturer at a number of universities including UCL, LSE, Reading and Hertfordshire. She has a strong interest in climate change education and from 2016-2019 worked on a European funded project, involving a number of partner universities in the UK and Ireland.
