Duties and Responsibilities
Making better use of the wealth of health data within the NHS in England is at the core of government investment in health services and future research capability. UCL is at the forefront of these developments, exemplified through leadership of the London site for Health Data Research UK and investments in unique health data resources and capacity for research.
This post is part of the NIHR Great Ormond Street Biomedical Research Centre strategy to build capacity and exemplar studies to improve care for children with rare and complex conditions. The research will use the rich, whole-population, administrative data resources at UCL, and registry data at GOSH, to develop high profile studies that answer questions about long-term outcomes, and the potential impacts of interventions for children receiving specialist paediatric care.
The post offers a springboard for a researcher with statistical and epidemiological skills and experience of administrative data to develop a research portfolio in data science applied to a range of rare and complex conditions in childhood.
The role is advertised as full-time, but part-time hours will be considered.
This post is funded for until 31 December 2021 in the first instance.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have experience of data management and advanced skills in at least one statistical software package (e.g. STATA, R, SQL). They will have the ability to work as part of a team and possess a commitment to academic research.
An MSc and a PhD in a relevant discipline or related experience is also essential. Appointment at grade 7 or 8 will depend on criteria specified in the job description.
