Hi Kathy,
I do like the idea of a local network sharing results instantly. We don't have many blood gas analysers so not too helpful statistically, but if others (of the same analyser) were all electronically available in advance of the full EQA report, this would definitely provide a more immediate assessment of quality. As always this relies on robust IT systems and platforms which is often a stumbling point for me.

I think real-time data comparison of EQA within your own networked analysers , without waiting for EQA returns is going to give you information which is of reasonable value.
After all if you have a number of analysers you should trend towards the mean.
(The same goes for glucose POCT)
It makes a lot of sense to uncover the outliers in your own network and check them out real-time You don't have to wait for the EQA return for that......
Questions
Are the data collection forms designed to make it easy for us all to do that?
Would we get more value from purchasing QA material with designated values rather than doing it blind in order to allow real-time troubleshooting.
Would we as a group benefit from doing that and reporting back our EQA results + sharing of investigation of outliers/ findings/reagent lot numbers?
Are blood gas EQA schemes optimally designed to deliver real benefits in quality?
