Dear colleagues,
The School of Health in Social Science at the University of Edinburgh is recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Health in Social Science. We would particularly welcome applications from scholars with expertise in the sociology of health and illness/medical sociology. The post is primarily designed to contribute to teaching on our MA Health, Science and Society - this is a really interesting interdisciplinary programme with a strong sociology component. There is lots of scope to help grow the programme further with new courses.
From the job spec:
This post is designed to contribute to core teaching on the MA Health, Science and Society, and to develop a research portfolio. The programme offers students an opportunity to build a robust understanding of the complexity of human experience in the area of health, illness and the social arrangements for care. Contribution to Programme Leadership, course organisation, curriculum development, teaching and research supervision will be predominantly to students on the MA Health, Science and Society, as well as MSc students and PhD supervision. Involvement and development of independent research will be expected, either in collaboration with members of staff or in the applicant’s own area of interest.
We are looking for an academic in the field of Applied Social Science with a professional and/ or disciplinary background in Clinical Psychology, Nursing, Counselling and Psychotherapy or Applied Social Science in Health related areas.
