The Department for the Study of Culture is seeking an innovative and dedicated Professor who can, with a clear vision, build and develop the field of humanities and technology at SDU. The Professor will spearhead a new interdisciplinary HUM-TEK centre, which examines the impact of technology on society and man in the past and present from a humanistic perspective (https://www.sdu.dk/en/om_sdu/fakulteterne/humaniora/forskning/hum-tek).
The centre cuts across subjects such as history, philosophy, culture, pedagogy, literature, design, media studies, and communication and interaction studies. Applicants are expected to have a background in one or more of these subjects and a strong research profile in the fields of humanities and technology. The person appointed shall be a unifying figure possessing organisational and personal abilities to lead interdisciplinary research environments.
Applicants shall have experience in both the acquisition of external funding and international research networks, as well as international research collaborations. The Professor must also be able to contribute to the continued development of the department’s educational profile.
Applicants are asked to attach a vision for a future profile and structure of the centre as part of the application. The vision must place the centre in a national, as well as an international perspective (in terms of both research and collaboration with the outside world). It should define lines for possible collaborations with other disciplines at SDU, as well as relate to SDU's overall strategy (https://www.sdu.dk/en/om_sdu/sdus_profil/strategi).
