Dear CCPEM community,
I *think* I am having some issues / problems with running motion correction, on our 4 x GPU-enables Linux boxes (running ubuntu 16.04-LTS), but as a relative newcomer to this particular discipline, I can’t be 100% sure. So this may simply be a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question…
Running Motioncor2 on movies (.tiff) collected on a K3 detector in super-resolution mode (40-frames) on our system is taking approx. 1 minute per movie – when I specify 1 MPI process, 10 threads, across 2 GPUs. However, I don’t seem to be able get anything to run at all if I set anything more that 1 MPI process (i.e. 1 per GPU being used).
Am I being completely naïve, is there potentially something wrong with the way I have installed Relion, or am I simply being impatient given the size and number of movies to process?
Current setup:
Relion 3.1 beta-commit-fd7dc1
MotionCor2_1.3.0-Cuda80
OpenMPI-4.02 (stand-alone install in /opt)
With thanks.
Antony.
