Hi,
I keep running into memory-related errors when trying to run 3D refinement jobs in Relion on a helical dataset of ~225K particles with a relatively small box size of 168 x 168. I am running jobs on a rack-mounted workstation with a dual-socket Xeon setup and 4x RTX 2080 GPUs.
The specific error that Relion gives me is:
KERNEL_ERROR: out of memory in /usr/local/relion-3-source/src/acc/utilities_impl.h at line 253 (error-code 2)
I'm trying to figure out what I can do to prevent this error. I have attempted reducing the number of pooled particles to 1 (though I suspect this only changes system memory, not GPU). I suspect that changing the initial sampling rate may influence memory usage (though I'm only able to push high-ish resolutions when I set initial sampling to ~0.9 degrees and local searches to 0.5 degrees).
Thank you,
