As far as I and a few others in LMB have tested, it works.
I randomly picked several frames and made sure
the values before and after compression are the same (= lossless).
So I think it is safe for production use, but I cannot guarantee 100 %
(remember, RELION is distributed without any warranty).
I will put more details of the algorithm and usage on RELION wiki
tomorrow.
