That is an unknown, the support requests are non-existent.
The solution to the JAI problem is easy in principle, we just add the JAI
jar files (jai_codec.jar, jai_core.jar) to the JSky package. In fact I
have done this for my local build when I upgraded to Java 8. I didn't push
the result as it is not clear that the licensing allows this, especially
as someone needs to "agree to defend and indemnify Sun and its licensors
from and against any damages, costs, liabilities, settlement amounts
and/or expenses", sound outside what I'm prepared to consider, even in
principle.
Anyway the only dependencies are JSky and SOG. We could remove those if we
all agree. Alternatively get users to download their own JAI, but good
luck finding it...
