Hello I recently sent details of a survey I've got running on how
museums have been incorporating climate change into their activities,
either as the main part or even a small element of exhibitions,
events, programmes for schools, outreach, and training for staff. I've
had some really great responses, showing the wide range of ways
museums are working on this, and the large numbers of people they
reach. But, I know that many more of you are doing this work, so would
like to invite you again to share your story. You might have a gallery
that features material that explains what climate change is, or its
impacts, or how people and nature are adapted to particular climates,
or working in partnership with others working on climate change, or
involving people in discussions on climate change, or sharing climate
researchers' work, or supporting climate strikers, or providing
resources for people interested in climate change, or a hundred other
things.
The survey is open until early January, and takes about 10-15 minutes.
It is also intended to help museums understand how their work
contributes to the Paris Agreement in a concrete way, so putting them
in a better position for when the UK hosts COP (United Nations climate
change conference, in Glasgow, November 2020). The results will be
produced as a freely available report or publication, so if you are
working with climate change in some way, it is an opportunity to be
part of that collective picture. The report will be shared with the
United Nations as part of the review of activity for the Paris
Agreement.
