Dear All,
Thank you to everyone who kindly responded to my previous message requesting recommendations for an EDMS.
A number of people asked for feedback, so I've summarised the following from the replies I received:
FileDirector - benefits include affordability, and ease of use. Possible drawbacks include the hierarchy (not enough levels, though there are ways to work around this), and retention scheduling (though this has yet to be fully investigated)
Laser Fiche - benefits include cost, time to implement, and ease of use. Particularly suitable for a smaller organisation
M-Files - fully endorsed as a comprehensive records management system, but drawback is the high cost
Micro Focus Content Manager (formerly TRIM) - benefits include security, records management, user experience, adaptability, and ease of configuration
Sharepoint - benefits include ease of searching of scanned paper documents, version control, retention implementation, and integration with Microsoft products especially Office 365
I hope this is helpful to others, and I am happy to share further thoughts after shortlisting and meeting with suppliers.
With kind regards,
Katherine
