Rugby School is advertising the post of Archives Relocation Manager.
Rugby School’s archive collections are comprehensive and cover the whole history of the school from its foundation in 1567 to the present day, containing material on the administration of the school as well as former pupils and staff.
Following the schools 450th anniversary in 2017, a major collections review is underway to professionalise the care and management of the archive. As part of this development the archive service is moving from its current location in the School Library (Temple Reading Room) to a short-term temporary location and then to new home with purpose-built storage and facilities.
We are looking for someone with significant archive experience to help with this exercise and enable the school to ensure the future safeguarding of its records so that the story of its history continues to be told.
The role will include:
- tackling the accessions and cataloguing backlogs;
- overseeing work to be carried out in temporary accommodation in preparation for the move (including supervision of staff and volunteers);
- identifying the conservation needs of the collections (which also include objects and artwork);
- liaising with school staff, architects and consultants on the archive’s planned new home;
- assessing archive policies and procedures;
- seeing the service set up and running in its new location.
37.5 hours per week.
Monday to Friday.
Salary: c £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
For more information and to apply, please register and complete an application via the Rugby School recruitment portal at www.rugbyschool.co.uk/about/employment-opportunities
Closing date is 19 November 2019, 12 noon.
The post is being advertised initially as a one year fixed-term contract (all year round) but the hope is to get this extended.
