The post-holder will work with a multidisciplinary team of investigators researching short stature (stunting) in children. This collaborative project will investigate whether there is an unrecognised burden of stunting among children in the UK, particularly in socioeconomically deprived areas such as east London. We will first map the prevalence of short stature using UK national data to identify hotspots of stunting. We will then develop an automated growth-screening algorithm using a longitudinal dataset from almost 20,000 UK children and then pilot the screening tool among 600 pre-school children in east London GP surgeries to evaluate its acceptability, feasibility and performance.
The post is full time and fixed-term for 2 years. Starting salary will be in the range of £34,220 to £36,098 per annum inclusive of London Allowance, depending on experience. Benefits include 30 days' annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
