We are welcoming proposals from industry, academia and the public sector
for data science *workshops, talks, lightning talks, and posters*. Last
year, DataTech brought together data communities from across Scotland,
the US, as well as from Central and Eastern Europe. Our 2019 keynotes
were internationally-recognised experts in supercomputing (Debbie Bard,
NERSC), machine learning and AI (Jared Lander, Lander Analytics/Columbia
University), and reproducible data workflows (Mine Cetinkaya-Rundel,
RStudio/Duke University, now affiliated to The University of Edinburgh).
This year, be a part of DataTech20 to discuss data science challenges
across these different sectors, share knowledge and expertise, and forge
new collaborations.
2020 Keynotes:
* *Dr Erin LeDell*, Chief Machine Learning Scientist at H2O.ai, leading
the development of an open source and automatic machine learning
(AutoML) platform
* *Dr Janelle Shane*, Colorado-based optics and AI researcher, also a
2019 TED fellow and the maintainer of the popular science blog
aiweirdness.com (covered by WIRED, The Atlantic, NBC News, and Slate)
Suggested topics for submissions:
* Methods, tools and techniques for data science (e.g., Probabilistic
methods, Spatial & time series, Machine learning, Handling missing data,
etc.)
* Ethical implications for processing data (e.g., Using data for social
good, Algorithmic bias and algorithmic decision making, Privacy
enhancing technologies, etc.)
* Natural Language Processing
* Development & data workflows
* Data visualisation
Please register and submit your proposal via the link above. *Early bird
tickets* will be ending this Friday, and from Saturday will rise to
Standard price.
Good luck with your submission,
