Dear Louis,
It doesn't seem like it, no (I assume you are referring to the symbolic
links corresponding to the .lnk files). It seems that MATLAB functions,
(addpath, fopen, etc) are not aware of them so the same will happen with
SPM. They only seem to be understood in the file explorer of the MATLAB
desktop. I understand that Windows (NTFS) now offers different types of
symbolic links but I don't have any experience with these so perhaps
someone more well versed in Windows could comment further.
