Hi, I don't post here that often these days but I do have fond
memories of this list and friends with people on it. I owe you this
courtesy.
I have been diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer, and pancreatic
cancer. I'm not kicking off any time soon - the meds I'm on have
shrunk the cancer. How long for is a guess but enough and there are
other meds. I am lucky in that I'm without pain. I have that waiting
for me.
In the meantime I've booked a train trip to Marseille and Rome, mostly
to see the Chateau d'If and the Spanish Steps but also to take in the
art. I'll be in Italy for 3 weeks.
Anyway, a poem Foxes:
The foxes came that summer
swift objects darting
between blades of grass
and into narrow spaces
nipping each other
in confirmation and hello
At rest, their dark ears
peered above the unkempt grass
hiding from the scythe
a respite between swings
Bowling and tumbling
head over bushy tail
between a red rose and the flare
of an orange marigold
the mysterious ferns
and yesterday's Italian pillar
all attempts at order gone
