Hello Alison,
At ARU we recently employed an intern to produce a library induction video; https://youtu.be/kMlH6RmXx2o. This was a 12 week project with the intern working 12 hrs per week.
Our brief was to produce an engaging, fun and memorable video to promote the library. The videos we investigated were professionally done and mainly involved tours which is good for an informational perspective and appeals to everyone. We thought that YouTubers (who are also students) like Ibz Mo appeal to some students and can reveal more about study habits and library use. We also wanted something fun, engaging and memorable that would appeal to students who use social media and who have a unique sense of humour. Other influences included TopekaLibrary’s parody of a Taylor Swift video, BYU Library’s ‘Ask a Librarian’ and Fayetteville Free Library’s lib dub style.
Thanks
