Dear Manchester VIP's
Nina Chesworth wants to introduce you to the support and social group that she has set up in Manchester for adults aged 25-55. It is a friendly, welcoming and supportive group that gives people living with sight loss of any degree a place to come and create new connections.
The group runs on the first Monday of the month 6pm-8pm in the Friends Meeting House 6 Mount street Manchester M2 5NS it is very accessible there are ramps into the entrance and the group meeting room is on the ground floor within the lobby. It is located directly behind the Manchester Central Library and can bee accessed by the st Peters square tram stop and Piccadilly bus and train station are a 15 minutes walk. We also have a Facebook page called together vision.
We will be providing a different theme to each session to bring new support and information for those who may not have heard of it or have access to the information. For example the first session is based on Health and Wellbeing where we will have yoga instructors talking about the practice and how it can be beneficial and how it can be adapted. We will also have a meditation teacher and lots more. The themes will be announced on social media and via email so please sign up. There will be a small charge to help with the running costs which can be pre booked through event bride.
We aim to provide two events a year for the group members free of charge. This will be an event in the summer and one at Christmas. We will also run a fund raising event once a year with a dedicated theme to helping creating awareness of sight loss.
I have started this group as I myself am blind and found that there isn’t much support and social opportunities out there for people in this age range. I want to create a welcoming space for people to create new connections and feel apart of something special. Somewhere they can get amazing peer support from those who know exactly what they are going through. This is something I longed for for a lot of my life.
So hopefully see you there!
Sending love
