The status of private medical records might be a bit murky, and you might seek guidance from TNA and your local Health Trust. But if you take them then you'll be responsible for the personal data, as well as the special category data (medical) that continues to have some legal protection after death. There is no 100 year rule any more, after FOI swept away most closure periods. There remains only a 100 year 'rule of thumb' as it kind of represents life-span.

Dear all,
We have been offered a collection of patient records from a consultant cardiologist who works privately (outside NHS). We have never been approached to take private medical records before- has anyone else had experience of this or aware of any guidelines to share?

Subject: Job Opportunity: Venice in Peril
Dear all,
Venice in Peril are currently seeking a Records Manager and Archivist. Please see advertisement below and contact them directly with any enquiries. The closing date is the 28 October 2019.
Venice in Peril Fund is seeking a professional Archivist & Records Manager
Venice in Peril Fund is a UK charity which, since 1971, has raised funds for some 60 conservation projects in Venice ranging from individual works of art to entire churches.
In support of its conservation work, Venice in Peril also promotes a deeper understanding of Venice to encourage responsible and informed engagement with the city and maintains its concern for the wider environmental issues affecting the city and the lagoon. As the British Committee for the Preservation of Venice it is one of 21 international committees working in this World Heritage site.
The Fund celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021 and would like to establish an archive reflecting its work and achievements going back to 1971. It would also like to develop a records management programme which will ensure that, in future, records are secured for the archive in accordance with relevant best practice and legislation. It is important that both these initiatives support and enhance the everyday business and future success of Venice in Peril.
The accumulated papers of Venice in Peril are located mainly in London with further material in Venice. They are of interest both for the history of heritage conservation and for the study of international cultural and institutional relations.
The successful candidate will have an MA or diploma in Archives and Records Management, knowledge of relevant archive and records management best practice and standards and previous experience in a similar role (ie. establishing an archive and records management programme from scratch). Applicants need to have a good understanding of written Italian and have excellent communications skills. Experience of charitable organisations and some knowledge of heritage conservation and/or post-war Anglo-Italian relations would be an advantage.
This project is estimated to take between six to nine months on a full-time basis but with some flexibility on timing. Remuneration will be in line with ARA Lower Management Level 1 guidelines.
For an informal discussion, contact Emma-Louise Bassett or Annabel Randall on 020 7736 6891 or [log in to unmask]
For further details of the project please email [log in to unmask]
Please send your CV and a covering letter either by email or to Venice in Peril Fund, Hurlingham Studios, Ranelagh Gardens, London SW6 3PA.
The closing date for applications is 28 October 2019

Subject: Online catalogues - alternatives to CALMView?
Dear list
We are looking into alternatives to our current online catalogue offering (CALMView). We are aware that there are now several other alternatives on the market, however none of our current team have any hands on experience of such products. We are specifically looking for solutions that can provide access to AV content.
If you use an alternative to CALMView would you be willing to let me know the name of the product and provide a very brief appraisal of it and the company that makes it please?
Replies off list please, I will then summarise for the list.
Many thanks
Malcolm

Dear all,
I'm very pleased to announce the first in a series of new online exhibitions which will delve into the rich history and collections of College, as well as introducing basic concepts of codicology and manuscripts. Do take a look!
Fragments of Note: the afterlives of medieval manuscripts<http://fragmentsofnote.magd.ox.ac.uk/> (http://fragmentsofnote.magd.ox.ac.uk/ had its first iteration in a physical exhibition curated by Dr Giovanni Varelli and myself in 2017, and explores the rich collection of fragments of medieval music which survive in the College's collections and their relevance to 21st century scholarship and performance. This online exhibition is optimised for viewing on PC or laptop, but can be viewed on mobile devices, too.
In the coming months we'll be releasing online versions of more recent exhibitions gone by, and commissioning new narratives for online presentation. If you are interested in the technology behind the screen, we used Word Press and also templates commissioned by Oxford firm One Limited.
Best wishes,
Daryl
