£22,888 per annum (full-time, 40 hours per week)

Royal Opera House Collections collect, preserve and provide access to an extraordinary collection that records the history of the Royal Opera House. The collection represents a journey into the diverse history of this institution since 1732, documenting all aspects of the artistic and organisational history of the three theatres that have stood on the site. http://www.roh.org.uk/about/roh-collections.
We are currently seeking an Assistant to work across the full range of activities required to ensure the preservation, management, development and engagement with ROH Collections. They will join the ROH Collections team, which comprises the Head of Collections, three Archivists and the Collections Assistant.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your experience within a busy archive with a growing and very diverse range of materials. The responsibilities of the role include:
- cataloguing information about performances and photographic collections;
- contributing to the provision of information services to internal and external users;
- participating in engagement activities to promote awareness of the Collections;
- assisting with the preservation of the collections housed at Covent Garden and the offsite stores in Egham and Thurrock;
- providing effective administrative support to the department.
The successful candidate will be an effective team player and be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of working in an archive or museum environment.
- Experience of handling and caring for archive or historic collections, including photographs, objects and costume.
- Highly competent Microsoft Office user (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Experience of using cataloguing databases, ideally Adlib, and digitising archives.
- Experience of entering and proofreading data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to deal with people at all levels in a confident and professional manner.
