The status of private medical records might be a bit murky, and you might seek guidance from TNA and your local Health Trust. But if you take them then you'll be responsible for the personal data, as well as the special category data (medical) that continues to have some legal protection after death. There is no 100 year rule any more, after FOI swept away most closure periods. There remains only a 100 year 'rule of thumb' as it kind of represents life-span.

Subject: Private medical records
Dear all,
We have been offered a collection of patient records from a consultant cardiologist who works privately (outside NHS). We have never been approached to take private medical records before- has anyone else had experience of this or aware of any guidelines to share?
Many thanks
Sarah
