Dear all
We are currently reviewing our processes relating to exams and invigilation. Our objective is to make improvements where we can and to improve the experience for students and staff and to eliminate inefficiencies.
I would be grateful if you would share your experiences on the follow areas and I will circulate collated responses in due course.
* Do you use External invigilation staff only? Or a mix of professional service staff and external staff? External staff only on a temporary basis.
* If you use professional service staff, do you train them, or just expect them to read guidance documents, undertake shadowing opportunities etc? N/A
* If you have moved towards using professional service staff, what was the transition period like? N/A
* How do you recognise professional service staff that assist with exam duties (eg lunch vouchers, time in lieu, etc)? N/A
* What is your student/invigilator ratio? (eg for every 50 students, 1 invigilator is required for a standard exam)
2 invigilators per room for 2-30 students (1:1 for individual rooms). Then 1 additional invigilator per approximately 30 candidates. This is higher or lower based on size of the room, complexity of the exam, extra provision requirements etc.
* Does your student/invigilator ratio remain the same throughout the exam, or do you have more at the beginning/end of the exam (less in the middle)? Same throughout.
* Does anyone have a paperless process to record who attended an exam (eg swipe card attendance, turnstile)? No. Potential to utilise the attendance monitoring swipe-in in the future.
Thank you (in advance).
Jean
