Hi Dave
All POC analysis is performed by hospital staff and none of our POCT team members will produce patient results other than carboxyhaemoglobin. Results are generally captured in the middleware and only results from blood gas analysers go to the HIS. None of our POC results go into our LIMS but we have previously considered this. Therefore no POCT tests are requested as such through electronic means.

Subject: A&E POC
Hi Mailbase
I am just after some information from hospitals that have a point of care suite/options in their A&E departments.
Firstly do you have point of care staff running analysers and performing tests in A&E areas or is this left entirely to the ward staff?
Do your results go through the main laboratory LIMS- and if they do, is there a requirement to 'book in' the samples to the LIMS before analysis?
If not through the LIMS are the results reported straight to the electronic patient records?
Any advice or comments on this would be great.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks
