Thanks to all colleagues who contributed in answering the initial question on reporting Flu results to PHE.
For your information, all our generated POCT results by the wards have an attached "POC" at the end of the test's name which helps to differentiate from the main laboratory results.
Also, the generated results are transmitted automatically to HIS having a passphrase at the end of the test such as Glu POCT, Ket POCT, INR POCT, Flu A POC, Flu B POC & RSV POC.
We are currently working to use urine readers for urine chemistry.
Thanks
Mansour

Subject: Flu testing in the non-lab setting
Further to the earlier post today about reporting of outcomes to PHE our microbiology lab has confirmed that results generated through use of our POCT solution will be reported through our LIS system. Outcomes will be reported through our normal laboratory reporting structure.
We are using a lab grade analyser in a non-lab setting with non-lab staff processing samples. SOPs, training and competency, IQC and EQA has full oversight of the microbiology lab and our POCT team.
Are any of you doing a similar thing in terms of entering the results in the LIS. If so how do you differentiate which tests are generated at the point of care and which from the lab? Do you append a comment, automatically or free text to each POCT generated result?
This service is a true hybrid system and not traditional POCT so I'd like to get your take on it.
Regards
Tony
