The University of Buckingham is looking to appoint an External Examiner for our Biomedical Science Modules.
The examiner should more specifically demonstrate previous experience of and competency in evaluating various assessments across the Biomedical Sciences modules at undergraduate level. The core modules of our BSc and Foundation courses include Anatomy & General Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Neuroscience, Genetics & Reproduction, Endocrinology, Microbiology, Immunology, Cell Signalling, Genetics and Epigenetics.
Our coursework assignments are mostly case-based or problem-based, but we also have assessments involving exercises in bioinformatics and computer programming and modelling. Apart from the final exams, individual assignments are worth less than 20% of the respective module mark, and do not require external examiners’ approval, so previously we had them internally verified by our Director of Teaching and Learning. The external examiner then checked through all assignments and exam results before the exam board. Our lecturers are currently setting assignments for the term 1 modules of the Pre-med course, which will be verified by myself, however, we need to send the exam papers to the external examiner in the third week of January for approval in time for mid-February exams.
If you are interested in applying for this role (or to request further information) please send your CV to [log in to unmask] by COP Monday 14th October.
